The Communication Center
Read and reply to WhatsApp conversations with your tenants in one inbox, and turn on alerts for this device.
Overview
The Communication Center (under Operations in the sidebar) is your inbox for WhatsApp conversations with tenants. Every conversation shows the contact's name, and where known, the property and unit. Each message shows when it was sent and whether it was delivered or read.
A conversation appears once a tenant messages your business WhatsApp number, or once you send them something on WhatsApp, such as an invoice.
Before you start
- The Communication Center is available to landlords and master admins.
- WhatsApp must be set up and switched on for your organisation. Your master admin does this in AI Dashboard → WhatsApp. Until then the inbox stays empty, and replies are saved but not delivered.
- To get browser alerts, use a browser that supports notifications and allow them when it asks.
Steps
- Open Operations → Communication Center.
- Use Search tenant, property or number… to find a conversation. The most recently active conversations are at the top, and a green badge shows how many unread messages each has.
- Click a conversation to open the thread. The newest messages are at the top.
- Type in Type a reply… and press Enter (or click the send button).
- Click Refresh to load any new messages.
- To get alerts on this device, click Enable alerts. To stop them, click Disable alerts.
Example
Acme Retail Pvt Ltd messages from their store at Lakeview Plaza to ask for last month's invoice. In the Communication Center the conversation jumps to the top, labelled "Acme Retail Pvt Ltd · Lakeview Plaza · Unit G-2". R. Iyer opens it, replies "Sharing it shortly", and then sends the invoice from GST Invoices. The reply shows a tick when sent, a double tick when delivered, and a blue double tick when read.
FAQs
What do the ticks mean?
One grey tick means sent, two grey ticks mean delivered, and two blue ticks mean read. A red warning icon means the message failed, and the reason is shown under it.
Long replies get split. Why?
WhatsApp limits how long one message can be. A very long reply is split into several messages, sent in order, so nothing is lost.
Where do I change the wording of automatic WhatsApp messages?
In Administration → Communication Templates, on the WhatsApp tab. See Email templates.
Can staff numbers appear here too?
Yes. If a landlord, supervisor or CA messages the WhatsApp number, the conversation shows their name from their user profile instead of just a number.
Troubleshooting
"No conversations yet"
No tenant has messaged you on WhatsApp and nothing has been sent to a tenant yet, or WhatsApp is not set up. Ask your master admin to check AI Dashboard → WhatsApp.
"Saved to the thread — WhatsApp is currently disabled"
Your message was saved but not sent, because WhatsApp is switched off for your organisation. Ask your master admin to turn it on, then send the reply again.
"Push is not configured" or "Notifications were blocked"
Alerts aren't available yet for your organisation, or your browser is blocking notifications for this site. Allow notifications in your browser's site settings and click Enable alerts again.
